Cisco Systems will have to defend against a patent infringement lawsuit after a Delaware federal judge on Monday denied the California-based technology company’s summary judgment motions for invalidity and non-infringement.

SRI International, a not-for-profit research institute also based in California, had levied the infringement claims against Cisco in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, alleging that the technology giant knocked off two of its 1998 patents related to the monitoring and surveillance of computer networks.
