The Delaware judiciary’s annual report for 2016 showed a split in workload between the state’s two most influential courts on Tuesday, the same day Delaware’s chief justice made his final budget pitch to lawmakers.
The 60-page document, posted to the judiciary website, highlighted a productive year for the Delaware Supreme Court, which saw a significant increase in dispositions last year, even as filings remained relatively flat compared to 2015. The Delaware Court of Chancery, on the other hand, experienced a decrease in both civil filings and dispositions, as it continued to work through a judicial reshuffling that has, at times, left its ranks thin in recent years.
