Arbitrators have the authority to resolve salary disputes under Delaware’s Wage Payment and Collection Act, the state Court of Chancery has ruled. The court’s decision upheld an arbitrator’s award of $271,694 to a former employee of a credit-card processing company.

Vice Chancellor John W. Noble ruled last week the Wage Payment and Collection Act’s requirement that such claims “may be maintained in any court of competent jurisdiction” can be extended to arbitrators.
